Johanna Mounzer named Malmö's Sports Volunteer of the Year 2026!

Our very own Johanna Mounzer has received the City of Malmö's award Årets Eldsjäl Idrott 2026!!
That is roughly “Sports Volunteer of the Year” – and it is a big deal for the whole club.
Our board nominated Johanna with great pride and a lot of warmth. The jury – the City of Malmö’s leisure committee together with Malmö Ideella and MISO – chose her from among all of the city’s dedicated sports volunteers, and we could not be happier. Along with the honour, she receives prize money of SEK 10,000.
A leader you can’t train into being
Johanna is only 24, but she has something no course can teach: the spark. She has a calm, a patience and a warmth that rubs off on everyone around her.
On her own initiative, she took responsibility for our youth training and our women’s training. Since 2024 both have grown strongly – and that is very much thanks to her.
A place where it’s okay to be new
Johanna saw early on that many young people and women needed a place where they dare to box without pressure, without demands to perform and without fear of getting it wrong. A place where you can be new, grow at your own pace, ask questions and be curious. She has been in that position herself, and she knows how it feels.
In a sport many people see as tough and hard, Johanna has built something that is both gentle and strong. We have seen members who at first barely dared to hit the pads now join open classes, sparring and mixed sessions. We have seen them become part of the community and make friends for life.
That is no coincidence. It comes from the way Johanna sees every single person. She teaches without being stiff, is clear without being harsh, and makes people feel safe without taking over. She makes people feel: I belong here.
Always ready to help
Johanna always helps out – no discussion, no ego. She brings joy, laughter and energy to the gym.
Beyond our regular training, she has been involved in projects such as Kul i Malmö, Unga i rörelse and Välmående i vardagen, helping young people in Malmö find community and a love for sport instead of being left out.
Inspiring far beyond Malmö
Together with her brother, Johanna makes boxing videos full of sibling fun, discipline and love for the sport. They have reached more than 200 million views around the world.
But what matters most is not the numbers. It is all the messages from young people and adults who say they dared to put on the gloves and start training – because of her.
Thank you, Johanna
To us, Johanna is much more than a coach. She is a role model, a keeper of our club culture and a safe place for many young people in Malmö. She leads with her heart, and in a short time she has made an enormous difference.
The award is presented at Föreningsgalan on Friday 23 October, the city’s yearly gala celebrating Malmö’s clubs and volunteers. Read more at malmo.se/foreningsgalan (in Swedish).
Congratulations, Johanna – and thank you for everything you give us. Give her an extra hug or a congrats next time you see her at the club.
Want to train with Johanna? She leads our youth training and our women’s training. Come and try a trial week.
